7th Doing Business in Cyprus Summit a huge success (pics)

A summit to showcase Cyprus as an attractive international business centre for corporates and their employees, as well as high net worth and affluent individuals, has gotten underway in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The “7th Doing Business in Cyprus Summit: Cyprus – The ultimate hub for business work and Lifestyle”, organised by IMH and Invest Cyprus, took place on 5 May in Tel Aviv, Israel, and it was a huge success.

The aim of the conference was to provide an overview of the Cyprus economy and investment landscape, and analyse the compelling advantages Cyprus has to offer, such as its tax and legal environment, its status as a rising technology and innovation hub, and its programmes for non-doms and high net worth individuals.

The conference was joined by Israeli professionals from all sectors, including but not limited to tech, financial services, and professional services.

A hub for international business

Opening the summit, Marios Tannousis, CEO of Invest Cyprus, offered a broad overview highlighting Cyprus as a hub for international business and a compelling destination for foreign investment, pointing out that 2023 and 2024 were record years for foreign direct investment in Cyprus.

Speakers included Chief Scientist Demetris Skourides, who presented the island’s tech and innovation ecosystem, and Cyprus’ Ambassador to Israel Kornilios Korniliou, who said the event reflects the close business links between Cyprus and Israel.

Kyriacos Michaelides, Chief Wealth and International Banking Officer, Alpha Bank Cyprus Ltd, talked about “Financial Services in Cyprus for International Clients”, while Alkis Simopoulos, Advocate / Director, S. A. Evangelou & Co LLC (PwC Legal Practice in Cyprus), delivered a speech on “Cyprus: A Business Friendly Corporate Base.

A Panel Discussion looked at “Cyprus as a home for High Net Worth Individuals” with the participation of Andriana Efstathiou, Partner, Bybloserve Management Ltd, Antonis Karitzis, Managing Partner, A. Karitzis & Associates L.L.C., Petros Mavrommatis, Board Member, Head of Asset Management Services, Vice President of the Cyprus Investment Fund Association, KPMG Limited, Cyprus. It was moderated by Marios Tannousis.

George Chrysochos, Executive Director, Cyfield, analysed the Real Estate Landscape, and Demetris Tsiakkis, Head of REO Business Development and Strategy, Altia, presented “Investment Opportunities in the Real Estate Sector”.

George Campanellas, Founding Partner, XPADIA, delivered a speech entitled “Unlocking High Return Investment Opportunities in Cyprus”, while Tango CFO Nati Toledo presented the experience of a large international tech company doing business in Cyprus.
