The Chairman & Owner of the Yianis Group, John Christodoulou, answered to the much-discussed question of the day regarding whether he is interested in entering the political scene as a candidate for President of the Republic of Cyprus, when journalist Emilia Papadopoulou asked him directly, "Will you be the next president of Cyprus?".
Responding to this specific question, during a discussion at the 17th Limassol Economic Forum, Christodoulou characteristically stated that “if I go for it, I believe I will be”, expressing strong confidence in his strengths and underlining that he knows very well who he is. The businessman, looking towards the Ministers and other government officials, said that there needs to be experience and people who possess it.
This is an extremely difficult decision, he said, recognizing the great sacrifices and changes required to move to such a different level of life.
At the same time, according to Christodoulou, Cyprus as a country is doing well economically and he would invest every cent he has in the island, however, the presence of Turkey creates a cloud of instability. As the businessman argues, if the Cyprus problem is resolved and there is stability, Cyprus will prosper and everything will increase by 25% to 50%, whether it is real estate or insurance and businesses. He said that he has made contacts and is pushing in this direction, but he clarified that in order to be actively involved he wants to have control and talk to people who are responsible and keep their word, concluding that time will tell his final decisions.
