Limassol has a new home for art. KOOL Gallery, Cyprus’s first gallery dedicated to the history and evolution of graffiti and contemporary urban art, opened on Friday 16 October 2026 with its inaugural exhibition, ICONS — Graffiti Pioneers, Legends & Contemporary Masters.
The opening took place under the auspices and in the presence of the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs Philippa Karsera Christodoulides, and in the presence of the Mayor of Limassol, Mr Yiannis Armeftis.
The exhibition brings together 49 works by 31 artists from the United States and Europe, among them Banksy, Damien Hirst, Lady Pink, CRASH, DAZE and FUTURA 2000 — artists whose work is held today by major institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and Tate in London.
Spanning five decades, ICONS follows graffiti from the subway trains of 1970s and 1980s New York to galleries and museums around the world. The exhibition is presented across two floors and runs until 31 March 2027.
“I fell in love with art while studying in Boston. With KOOL Gallery we want to bring that experience to Limassol — to let people stand in front of works they would otherwise only see in New York, London or Paris,” says Dr Aliki Economides, founder of KOOL Gallery.
