Embassy and diaspora welcome Christodoulides to Texas (pics)

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Washington and the Honorary Consul in Houston hosted a reception in honor of the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides in Houston, Texas.

As noted in a social media post by Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, "The reception was attended by state officials, businessmen, members of the consular corps and members of the Greek diaspora."

"The presence of the dynamic Cypriot diaspora in the United States is a valuable asset for the Republic of Cyprus. Expatriate Cypriots excel in the fields of science, entrepreneurship, technology and public life, establishing their presence and appreciation in the societies they live and operate in. Despite geographical distances, their heart always beats in their special homeland – Cyprus," the Government Spokesman added.

The post continued that, President Christodoulides expressed the deep appreciation of the Cypriot State for the continuous and multifaceted contribution of the diaspora, "as well as the sincere pride of all of us for their progress and the prestige they bring to Cyprus internationally."

"He stressed that the utilisation of this exceptional human potential can contribute decisively to our national efforts, both in the field of foreign policy and in the economic and technological development of our country. The bridges they build with host countries, their networking and their deep love for Cyprus are pillars in which the state must and will continue to invest," Letymbiotis' post concluded.
