Cabinet officially approves George Karatzias' appointment as the new Chairman of CySEC

The Cabinet, during its meeting under the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides has approved the appointment of George Karatzias as the new Chairman of the Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission, along with a series of other new appointments.

As well as Karatzias being approved for the CySEC Chairmanship for a period of five years, the Cabinet also gave the green light to Loukas Lagoudis being appointed Vice-Chairman of CySEC for a period of five years. Andrea Moundi Savvides, meanwhile, as also approved as a Member of CySEC's Board of Directors, for a period of five years.

The Cabinet also approved the appointment of Panikkos Vakkou as Executive Director of the Central Bank of Cyprus Board.

In addition, Pampos Christodoulou's appointment as President of the Youth Board of Cyprus and Thanos Christodoulou's appointment as Vice President were also ratified, along with the appointment, as Members, of Zafeiro Kastanou, Stavros Soteriou, Iacovos Iacovou, Alexantros Gerolatsitis (Current), Fotis Trimpakkiros (Current).

Regarding the Pancyprian Union of Refugees, Lefteris Antoniou has been appointed President while Marilena Evangelou has been appointed as Chair of the School for the Deaf.

The Cabinet also approved the appointment of the first board of the Cyprus Cancer Research Institute with Oncologist Dr. Pavlos Drakos as Chairman. The follwing people were appointed as Members,  Dr. Elena Panagiotopoulou (Representative of the Ministry of Health), Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health, Anna Demetriou (Representative of the Ministry of Health), Statistics Officer, Health Monitoring Unit, Ministry of Health, Elena Zachariadou (Representative of the Ministry of Finance), Senior Administrative Officer, Ministry of Finance, Dr. Pantelis Kountourakis, Oncologist (Representative of the Cyprus Medical Association), Dr. Marios Antoniades, Hematologist (Representative of the Cyprus Medical Association), Antonis Tryfonos (Representative of the Cyprus Medical Association), Eleni (Lina) Tolma, Associate Professor (Representative of the Council of Rectors), Constantinos N. Phellas, Professor (Representative of the National Bioethics Committee of Cyprus).

Also, Panayiota Hadjigeorgiou, a Civil Engineer, was has been approved as a Member of the Board of the Cyprus Land Development Corporation, and Musicologist Marianna Galides has been greenlighted as a Member of the Board of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation.
