Chef Andreas Mavrommatis's legacy is strong and lives on, President says

Cyprus is deeply grateful to Michelin-starred Chef Andreas Mavrommatis, and his team, who brought the cuisine of Cyprus to the recent informal European Council, said the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, in a post on X.

In his Sunday, 26 April post, Christodoulides noted that though Chef Mavrommatis passed away last month, his legacy is strong and lives on.

“From the mountains of his village, Agros, he brought the authentic flavors of Cyprus to the highest tables of Paris, serving Presidents, Prime Ministers, and people from around the world. He was a true Ambassador for all that is good in Cyprus, exemplifies all that Cypriots can achieve, and we are honored to honor his memory with our European family,” he further noted.

“The food was amazing, Andreas, I keep getting messages from European leaders. The secret ingredient, your love of country, rests close to our hearts. We miss you, we thank you, we celebrate your legacy,” the President concluded.
