ECM Fund Management has announced that it is strengthening its Board of Directors through the addition of two highly experienced personalities with a strong footprint in the fields of economics, governance and business, Harris Georgiades and Evgenios Evgeniou.
Licensed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) ECM Fund Management Ltd is an alternative investment fund management company (AIFM), headquartered in Nicosia.
ECM Fund Management is part of ECM Partners, focusing on private equity and opportunistic investments in Central and Southeastern Europe.
As stated in the company's LinkedIn posts, Harris Georgiades is a former Minister of Finance of the Republic of Cyprus, from 2013 to 2019, and who served "during a period of significant economic challenge, overseeing fiscal and banking sector reforms that supported the stabilisation and recovery of the Cyprus economy. During this period, he represented Cyprus at the Eurogroup and ECOFIN, and in 2014 served as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development."
"He also held Governor roles at the European Investment Bank and the International Monetary Fund and chaired the Foreign and European Affairs Committee of the Cyprus Parliament. Mr Georgiades currently serves as Chairman of the Clerides Institute and is engaged in advisory roles and family business activities in Cyprus. His institutional and macroeconomic experience brings valuable insight to ECM’s governance and oversight," the post continued.
On his part, Evgenios Evgeniou joins ECM Fund Management as "an experienced board member and senior executive with over 30 years of leadership experience. He has served as Chairman and non-executive director across several organisations, with a focus on governance, strategy and risk oversight," the company noted.
Its post on LinkedIn continued that, "Mr Evgeniou was Chairman and CEO of PwC Cyprus from 2012 to 2021, and a member of PwC’s EMEA Leadership Team, representing 15 European territories. In these roles, he provided strategic leadership and drove organisational transformation, working closely with regulators and stakeholders across the region. Mr Evgeniou holds a BEng (Hons) from Imperial College London, is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), and has completed an MA at King’s College London, the INSEAD Certificate in Corporate Governance and completed MIT Sloan programme on Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy. His extensive board-level experience and governance expertise reinforce ECM’s governance framework and oversight."
It should also be noted that Evgeniou is the Chairman of Invest Cyprus.
The integration of the two men substantially strengthens the corporate governance framework and strategic guidance of ECM Fund Management, adding depth of experience and expertise in a demanding and constantly evolving international environment, the company said.
