Kyriakos Iordanou named Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry

Kyriakos Iordanou has been named Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, one of several new Permanent Secretaries at a number of Ministries and Deputy Ministries announced earlier today.

Iordanou had earlier this year announced he would be leaving his position at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) to take up a government post. It had been known that he would be a Permanent Secretary, but the list of placements revealing which ministry to new Permanent Secretaries would be placed was only made public earlier today, 2 December.

He had been the General Manager of ICPAC for 13 years, having held a position at the Institute for 23 years.

According to his LinkedIn page, Iordanou's professional career commenced in January 1995 with the banking sector and as of mid-1999 till 2004 he worked as the Financial Controller in public companies and as a financial/business consultant in other private companies with activities in Cyprus, Greece and UK. In May 2004, he was employed by the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus (a semi-government organisation) initially as the Chief Accountant and, as of September 2009, as the Internal Auditor of the organisation.

Iordanou also served in the Council of the Cyprus Institute of Internal Auditors (2006-2011), holding the position of the chairman of the Institutions & Ethics subcommittee of the Institute.

Iordanou has been a member of ICPAC and a qualified ACCA since 1997 (Fellow since 2002). He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CPFA) and a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (FCIS). In addition, he is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM). He is a holder of a Masters in Business Administration degree (MBA).

Furthermore, in 2024 Iordanou obtained the professional designations FICA, Fellow of the International Compliance Association, and TEP, Full Member of STEP.

He is also member of the board of LPAP Cyprus Association of Lobbyists and Public Affairs Professionals Limited.

Iordanou has been a regular article columnist in a number of publications, as well as a presenter/panellist in conferences and similar events, Iordanou is an active member of the Round Table / 41 Club community with social responsibility activity.

He is married and a father of a son.

ICPAC has thanked Iordanou for his service and announced that procedures are underway for the appointment of a new General Manager.
