A number of state officials and leading business figures were among those presenting foreign investors with an award at the 13th Invest Cyprus International Investment Awards.
The ceremony, presented by PwC Cyprus, paid tribute to major international investors for their contribution to Cyprus and its economy, on 9 July at the Hilton Nicosia.
The invitation-only ceremony saw seven companies recognised and awarded for their accomplishments in a range of sectors: Eurobank S.A., Semrush, Sword Group (Sword Group Cyprus), MY.GAMES, Marfields Group, Sklavenitis Cyprus and Monaco Telecom.
Ahead of delivering the awards, the presenters spoke to INBusiness TV:
Invest Cyprus CEO Evgenios Evgeniou said international investors are driving the way that Cyprus is transforming towards the future, while Philippos Soseilos, CEO and Chairman of PwC Cyprus, said that besides investment, they bring capacity, capability, skills, and emerging tech possibilities.
Chief Scientist Demetris Skourides said he was delighted to see companies choosing Cyprus as a hub to actively expand their businesses, with Niki Ioannou, Director, Cyta Business, adding: “We believe that Cyprus has all the infrastructure required for all these companies to come and invest and create a business in Cyprus.”
George Theocharides, Chairman of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, said it’s very important to be able to congratulate the foreign entities and nationals that invest in Cyprus.
Nicodemos Damianou, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, who presented the award to MY.GAMES, said the gaming sector is gaining a lot of traction, making Cyprus one of the leading hubs for gaming, not just in the region but also globally.
Andreas Petsas, CEO of Eurobank Cyprus, pointed out how the type of companies receiving these awards have changed over the years.
Penelope Papavassiliou, Secretary to the Council of Ministers, who along with Stavros Stavrou, President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, presented Marfields’ award, stressed the real estate sector’s contribution to the country’s economy. Stavrou said the company had raised the bar even higher in the sector.
