During the period January – December 2025, building permits recorded an annual increase of 19.5%, according to CySTAT.
In a press release, it says that the number of building permits authorised during December 2025 stood at 819. The total value of these permits reached €415.4 million and the total area 328.8 thousand square meters.
These building permits provide for the construction of 1,770 dwelling units.
During the period January – December 2025, 8,159 building permits were issued compared to 6,827 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording an increase of 19.5%.
The total value of these permits increased by 37.8% and the total area by 41.0%.
The number of dwelling units recorded an increase of 42.7%.
It is noted that as of the 1 July 2024, the authority of issuing building permits was transferred from the municipalities and the district administration offices to the newly founded District Local Government Organisations and the licensing process is performed through the new 'Ippodamos' integrated information system.
