President Nikos Christodoulides has wrapped his two-day working visit to Finland with meetings with the country’s Prime Minister, Petteri Orpo, and President of the Finnish Parliament Jussi Halla-aho.
The President was accompanied on his trip by Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis and a delegation from the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI).

During his meeting with Finnish PM Orpo, the two discussed - among other things - European developments and the priorities of the Cyprus EU Presidency in the first half of 2026.

Regarding bilateral relations, the two state leaders confirmed continuous progress and multi-level cooperation.

Special reference was made to the events in 2024 to mark the 60th anniversary of the arrival of the first Finnish peacekeepers in Cyprus, a fact that confirms the historical bonds of friendship and solidarity between the two peoples, Letymbiotis said in a written statement after the meeting.

Earlier, President Christodoulides held a meeting with the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, Jussi Halla-aho.

The President also laid a wreath at the grave of Former President and Military Commander Baron Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim at the Finnish Peacekeepers Monument.

Meanwhile, CCCI organised a business mission to Helsinki as part of the government’s official visit. The focus, it said in a press release, was on maritime and marine technology, promoting Cyprus’ position as a leading shipping centre and exploring synergies with Finland in green shipping, sustainable marine innovation, and advanced technologies.

During the mission, a Business Forum and a series of bilateral business meetings (B2B) took place, focusing on the strategically important sector of shipping and maritime technology, which was attended by Marina Hadjimanolis.

On the sidelines of the mission, the Secretary General of the CCCI, Philokypros Roussounides, met with the CEO of the Finland Chamber of Commerce, Juho Romakkaniemi.
