The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, and Cyprus' Foreign Minister, Constantinos Kombos, held joint talks with Foreign Ministers of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
In a post on X, Kombos wrote that, in light of the evolving regional developments, Kallas and himself, "had this evening joint contacts with colleagues from the region", stressing that "active diplomacy, engagement and dialogue is the only way to pursue regional stability and security".
Specifically, they on 15 January held contacts with Kuwait's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
They also spoke with Oman's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The challenges facing the region require us to work together towards de-escalation and diplomacy.
Only dialogue and diplomacy will help achieve stability and security.
