Defence Ministers of Cyprus and Greece to meet in Nicosia

Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Vasilis Palmas, will have a meeting with Minister of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic, Nikos Dendias, and Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) of the Hellenic Republic, General Dimitrios Choupis, in the light of developments in the Middle East and in our region.

The Greek Minister will also meet with President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis has said.

The Cypriot Defence Minister wrote on Monday on 'X' that during the meeting, they will review and assess the security situation, as well as examine all appropriate measures, "with the aim of ensuring an effective response to any eventuality, as well as the protection and safety of our citizens".

Meanwhile, four F16 aircraft of the Greek Air Force arrived in Cyprus on Monday afternoon, “as a result of the immediate response of the Greek government following the telephone conversation between the President of the Republic and the Greek Prime Minister,” the Government Spokesman announced Monday evening after a meeting of the National Security Council.

Letymbiotis expressed his gratitude to the Greek government “for the close coordination and constant communication.”

He also said that two Greek frigates are expected to arrive, along with their systems.
