Palestinian President visiting Nicosia, will meet President Christodoulides

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is to pay a working visit to Cyprus on 29-30 October during which he is to meet President Nikos Christodoulides, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said in a written statement.

The Spokesperson said the two Presidents would hold a meeting at the Presidential Palace this morning, Thursday, 29 October, followed by a working lunch.

This will be the third meeting between the two Presidents since Christodoulides was elected President of the Republic, with their latest meeting taking place in Palestine in May 2025.

During Thursday’s meeting, the Spokesperson said, the two leaders are to discuss Cyprus-Palestine bilateral relations, the situation in the region and Cyprus’ humanitarian role, including through the Amalthea maritime corridor for delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. They will also discuss EU-Palestine relations and the latest developments in the Cyprus problem, he said.

“Cyprus and Palestine share longstanding historical relations and close ties, both at the political level and in other areas, as well as through cooperation between the two peoples,” the Spokesperson said.
