The Cavo Zoe Hotel in Protaras has completed five years of successful operation and now remains open year-round, among other things, supporting local suppliers and creating new employment opportunities.
The hotel's General Manager, Giorgos Motsios, in an interview in the December 2025 edition of the Cyprus Hotels Association newsletter 'Xenodochos,' talks about the hotel's achievements, as well as its plans for the future, and refers, among other things, to the main objectives of the location's 'Winter Operation' initiative.
Cavo Zoe Hotel has completed five years of successful operation. How would you describe this journey and what do you consider to be the hotel's main achievements?
Looking back on the five years of Cavo Zoe, I feel that it has been a journey full of excitement, challenges, and also significant successes. From the beginning, we had a clear goal: to stand out, to create a place like no other – a destination within a destination, as we say.
We wanted to offer something truly personal and modern, something more than the typical hotel.
Our greatest achievement, beyond the good reviews, is that people trusted us – we built a community, a “family” of visitors who return every year, who recommend us. We also adapted quickly to the new needs of tourism, keeping the bar high in safety and flexibility – this gave us the impetus to continue strong.
What is the hotel's current capacity and what services does it offer to its public and guests?
Cavo Zoe Hotel & Suites features 72 rooms and suites, designed for comfort and contemporary style. But we don't just leave it there.
We offer complete packages: gym, spa and wellness, a room for business meetings, transportation, services for special occasions, such as the exceptional wedding and baptism events that we organise.
We pay particular attention to accessibility and want every visitor, regardless of age, to feel comfortable and experience all their important moments with us.
How many restaurants and other dining venues does it have and what do they offer?
We have dining options for every taste and time of day. DOLCE, our main restaurant, serves rich Mediterranean, Cypriot and international cuisine, always with fresh, local ingredients. We take great care of this.
SALTY offers incredible views, ideal for a sunset drink or a leisurely dinner. And of course, room service is available. Our guests can enjoy flavours and comfort whenever they want.
What kind of visitors has the hotel attracted -to date- and what other types of tourism-visitors would you like to attract?
Our hotel has from the start attracted mainly couples and families looking for tranquility, quality and beautiful holidays. In recent years we have seen more and more travellers interested in experiences, wellness, activities, and a healthy lifestyle.
Our goal is to strengthen our presence in the field of incentive travel and small business conferences - retreats, as well as to build the wellness tourism segment, with special packages and benefits.
How did 2025 go for your hotel and what indications do you have for the new year?
The year has exceeded our expectations. Occupancies and revenues have performed better than we had anticipated. This is due to both the international market and our strategy for direct bookings and partnerships with high-value guests.
Pre-bookings for the upcoming season are clearly showing a positive trend: We are seeing increased demand for our premium services. I believe the new season will be even stronger and more stable.
Do you plan to keep the hotel open during the winter months? And if so, which months?
Yes. We have made a conscious decision to operate year-round. Cavo Zoe remains open year-round, always adapting our services according to the season.
In the winter, we operate for special events, corporate retreats and guests seeking absolute tranquility off-season.
Our area is known as a summer destination, but we believe it has the potential to operate year-round.
This is a personal bet, born out of the desire to revitalise the destination during the winter months, when the area remains almost dormant, despite Cyprus's amazing weather.
With the 'Winter Operation' initiative, we aim to:
- To support local suppliers and create new employment opportunities.
- To offer high-quality experiences.
- To strengthen the training of our team.
I believe that this initiative can serve as an example for other hotels, so that seasonality can gradually be eliminated.
What can you share with us about your future plans/investments/purchases for 2026 and beyond?
For 2026 we are preparing changes to our wellness and spa, new treatments, new proposals. We are adding services, with a focus on experience and sustainability.
For the future, continuing innovation and quality, with an emphasis on experiential hospitality, contributing to the local community, tourism education and Cyprus tourism, supporting sustainable practices and finally creating new opportunities for expansion, while maintaining our identity.
Our goal is to leave a lasting legacy in the destination, strengthening our position as an exceptional boutique hotel.
