The presence of Chevron in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus constitutes a strong vote of confidence in the energy prospects of our country, as well as of the region, President Nikos Christodoulides told senior Chevron executive, President of the company’s BAEC division, Javier La Rosa.
According to a Cyprus Presidency readout, the President was speaking at the beginning of a meeting he had with La Rosa in New York, on Monday, 22 September.
Welcoming La Rosa, President Christodoulides congratulated him on assuming his new duties as President of the company and expressed the conviction that “the presence of Chevron in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus constitutes a strong vote of confidence in the energy prospects of our country as well as of the region.”
He added that “we recently signed an agreement in Egypt, which is a very important agreement, a landmark agreement. At the same time, our cooperation is highly significant within the framework of our relations with the United States, a strategic partner with whom we work together across all sectors”.
The President also said that “I look forward to our discussions today regarding what is still pending, so that we can move forward quickly. For us, for the Republic of Cyprus, for the Cypriot people, time is of great importance; therefore, we need to see what we have agreed being implemented.”
