Cyprus Integrity Forum leadership presents actions and goals to President Nikos Christodoulides

The Chairman of the Cyprus Integrity Forum (CIF), Marios Skandalis, and Vice Chair Elena Tanou met with President Nikos Christodoulides to present the Forum’s actions and goals.

The meeting at the Presidential Palace on 24 June took place in a particularly positive and constructive atmosphere, a CIF announcement said, adding that the main focus of discussion was the Forum’s actions and strategic goals to promote transparency, accountability and ethical governance in all sectors of society, business and government.

Skandalis presented the Forum’s report on its activities for 2024 and the goals for 2025, emphasising that "the fight for transparency requires collective mobilisation, preventive action and constant vigilance."

Particular mention was made of CIF's initiatives on the need to cultivate a culture of ethics and integrity from a young age in primary education, through the children's edition of the book ‘The Flying Hats’ created in collaboration with author Caterina Vaimaki and also translated into English by Maria Ioannou. Delivery of the books to 5,000 children in private primary schools has already begun.

President Christodoulides, warmly welcomed the work and mission of the CIF, expressing his full support for the Forum’s long-standing struggle for a more transparent and just society, the Forum's announcement noted.

He stressed that the State remains by the side of the CIF and that such initiatives are of essential importance for democracy and the common good.

As the President mentioned, the good cooperation of the State with organisations such as the CIF is essential and it is no coincidence that in the last two years, for the first time, Cyprus recorded significant progress, both in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index and in the recent Moneyval assessment, a successful course that did not go unnoticed by the various international rating agencies.

CIF is continuing its work with consistency and commitment, strengthening ethics, transparency and responsibility in society, businesses and government.
