Evgeniou: Indian businesses have received the message that Cyprus is a base for activity in the European market

The belief that the goal of conveying the message to Indian businesses that Cyprus can become an entry point and base for them to the European market has been achieved, has been expressed by the Chairman of Invest Cyprus, Evgenios Evgeniou, in the wake of the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the island and the subsequent roundtable discussion that took place in Limassol.

Speaking to InBusinessNews, the Chairman Invest Cyprus described as extremely important what was said, decided and announced, both in the context of the roundtable discussion, in the presence of Prime Minister Modi and President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides, as well as during the individual separate contacts between businessmen from the two countries, and also during the bilateral meetings that took place at a purely political level at the Presidential Palace.

As Evgeniou mentioned, through the contacts made, the fact that Cyprus, located on the Eastern borders of the European Union, is emerging as a gateway for investors seeking access to the European market and is becoming a business and investment hub that bridges Europe with the Middle East and India, was essentially confirmed.

"Cyprus' role as a gateway for investors seeking access to the European market and as a business and investment hub bridging Europe with the Middle East and Asia," noted the president of Invest Cyprus, "is being embraced by both Indian businesses expanding into Europe and Western investors investing in India."

As he pointed out in this regard, proof of this is the great interest shown by Indian companies to gain a presence in Cyprus, something we are already seeing happening on the ground through the relevant announcements of converting their intentions into a real presence with the active support of Invest Cyprus.

He added that work is needed to maintain the momentum that has been created and for the Indian companies that have already chosen Cyprus to achieve their goals.

"Invest Cyprus, as the competent organisation for attracting and facilitating companies from abroad that choose Cyprus, actively contributes, within the framework of our responsibilities and institutional role, to assisting Indian companies that acquire or will acquire a presence on our island, as well as to further strengthening investment relations between Cyprus and India.

"This has been one of our priorities for some time, hence our participation as a founding member of the India, Greece and Cyprus business and investment council," Evgenios Evgeniou emphasised.
