The war situation in the Middle East, which began in late February and peaked in March, is causing a major blow to Cyprus' tourism.
This fact is confirmed by CySTAT data in relation to tourist arrivals, which in March recorded a huge decrease.
More specifically, and based on the data, tourist arrivals in March amounted to 139,198 compared to 200,736 in March 2025, marking a decrease of 30.7%.
For the period January - March, tourist arrivals amounted to 407,339 compared to 446,596 in the corresponding period of 2025, marking a decrease of 8.8%.
It is noted that arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for March 2026, as they constituted 32.9% (45,763) of total arrivals, arrivals from Poland 12.6% (17,604), arrivals from Germany 10.8% (14,999) and arrivals from Greece 6.5% (9,009).
It is worth noting that the purpose of travel in March 2026 was vacation for 65.7% of tourists, visiting friends or relatives for 19.8%, and business for 14.3%.
Accordingly, for March 2025, 69.4% visited Cyprus for holidays, 15.7% to visit friends or relatives and 14.7% for business reasons.
