India's Prime Minister continues official visit to Cyprus

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues his two-day official visit to Cyprus on Monday with a meeting at the Presidential Palace with President Nikos Christodoulides.

Modi will receive an official welcome and will subsequently meet with the President who will decorate him with the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III.

Extensive talks between the delegations of the two countries will follow, and the two leaders will then make statements to the media.

According to Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, during the talks, issues related to bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen them, mainly in the areas of economy, trade, infrastructure and investment, will be discussed, among other things. 

EU-India relations, issues related to the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), the situation in the Middle East and South Asia, and the latest developments on the Cyprus issue are also on the agenda.

Later on, the two leaders will go to Nicosia City Hall, from where they will walk along the ceasefire line.

The President of the Republic will then host an official lunch in honour of the Prime Minister of India at the Presidential Palace, after which Modi will depart from Cyprus.
