Wizz Air announces the expansion of its route portfolio in Larnaca with the addition of two routes to Athens and Madrid, as well as planned frequency increases on its routes to Barcelona, Thessaloniki and Yerevan, further strengthening connectivity between Cyprus and major European destinations.
Starting in September 2026, passengers will be able to travel from Larnaca to Athens with Wizz Air, as the airline resumes its high-frequency service between the two destinations. Flights will initially operate 11 times per week, increasing to up to 14 weekly services (double daily), offering passengers enhanced flexibility, with fares starting from just €29.99 (one-way), including all mandatory fees and one carry-on bag. The return of the Athens route reflects strong passenger demand and highlights Wizz Air’s continued investment in key regional connections.
Encouraged by the success of the recently launched route to Barcelona, Wizz Air will introduce another route from Larnaca to Spain: from September, the airline will offer direct access to one of Europe’s most vibrant cultural and tourism destinations, Madrid. Flights will operate three times per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with fares starting from just €55.99 (one-way), including all mandatory fees and one carry-on bag.
Further to the new routes, Wizz Air will increase frequencies for Barcelona, Thessaloniki and Yerevan, further strengthening connectivity and providing passengers with greater flexibility and more travel options across its network.
These developments highlight Wizz Air’s continued commitment to the Cypriot market and its strategic focus on strengthening the role of Larnaca as an important base within its network. By expanding its route offering and increasing frequencies, the airline provides passengers with more choice, greater flexibility and affordable travel options.
