Dimitris Galanis has been appointed CEO of Public Group, after predecessor Robby Bourlas concluded his tenure.
Galanis has previously served as CEO of Praktiker Hellas, where he led a transformation that resulted in significant increases in sales and profitability. He also held the positions of Chief Commercial Officer and Head of New Sales Channels at DixonsCarphone (Kotsovolos). Previously, he served as Commercial Sales Director and Store Director at Plaisio, contributing to the expansion of direct sales and the adoption of cutting-edge technological solutions.
Announcing the news, the company’s Board of Directors extended its “sincere gratitude” for Bourlas’ “strategic contribution and decisive leadership over the past four years”.
During this period, he led a holistic transformation that redefined the position of Public in Greece and Cyprus, it said.
Through the adoption of new operating models, strategic partnerships with companies such as iRepair, Klarna, and BoxNow, the successful acquisition of MediaMarkt, and the creation of the innovative concept store Public + home, the company said it managed to reverse operational losses of €17m into an operational profit of €30m.

Meanwhile, Robby Bourlas will continue contributing to the Olympia Group as a Strategic Advisor, “offering his experience and strategic insight in shaping the Group’s future initiatives”.
What’s next for Public
Public is now moving into its next phase of development with a modern, flexible, and efficient operating model, it said.
This new growth stage includes the opening and full renovation of five stores by the end of 2025 (Marousi, Smart Park, Corfu, Patissia, and Nea Erythraia), further enhancing Public’s omnichannel presence.
