Prominent lawyer Andis Scordis, founding partner of Scordis, Papapetrou & Co, has died

Andis Scordis, a prominent lawyer and co-founder and senior partner of Scordis, Papapetrou & Co, has died.

Scordis, who was 79 years old, died unexpectedly on Saturday, 24 May.

A Facebook post by the Cyprus Bar Association underlined the Scordis’ contribution to both the legal profession and wider society.

“Andis Scordis, through all his actions and social contribution, honoured his family and also his homeland and place of origin, his beloved Famagusta,” CBA noted.

Scordis, Papapetrou & Co posted the funeral details on its website, noting, “It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Andis Scordis on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Andis Scordis passed away at the age of 79, he was co-founder and senior partner of Scordis, Papapetrou & Co., his leadership left an indelible mark.

This great loss causes immense pain to his wife, children, grandchildren, other relatives, as well as to his friends and associates."

The announcement continued, "Andis Scordis, with all his action and social contribution, honoured his family, but also his homeland and his place of origin, his beloved Famagusta.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, 27 May, at 4pm from the Holy Church of Saints Constantine & Helen in Nicosia.

The offices of Scordis, Papapetrou & Co., will be closed on the day of the funeral.

The Law Firm of Scordis, Papapetrou & Co. D.E.P.E., in gratitude for his enormous contribution, will bear the funeral and burial expenses.

In lieu of wreaths, donations may be made to the Famagusta Philoptochos Society (Famagusta Society for the Poor).”
