Deputy Minister taking part in EU Competitiveness Council in Brussels

Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nicodemos Damianou, is in Brussels to participate in the EU Competitiveness Council on issues related to Research and Space.

According to a press release issued by the Deputy Ministry, the agenda related to the research sector includes a political debate on the results of the interim evaluation of the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, the adoption of a Council recommendation on the European Research Area Policy Agenda 2025-2027, as well as the Conclusions on the use of Artificial Intelligence in science.

Regarding the space sector, the Council will discuss space data for strengthening resilience, security and crisis management in the EU, as well as the broader need to strengthen the EU's competitiveness and digital sovereignty.

On the sidelines of the Council, the Deputy Minister will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts to coordinate and discuss critical issues, in view of the upcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026, the press release concluded.
