RSM Cyprus walks the path of hope with 'Christodoula's Suitcase,' organised by the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society

RSM Cyprus proudly participated in the symbolic journey of 'Christodoula's suitcase', organised for the first time by the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society as part of the 50th Christodoula's March.

The initiative was inspired by the story of Christodoula, who, according to the writings of Dr. Dimitris Souliotis, Christodoula's physician and initiator of the March, with a small suitcase and exhausted from cancer, walked the refugees path and eventually reached Sotira in the Famagusta district, with very limited care and support.

Christodoula's experience became a beacon for the founders of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society, leading to the establishment of comprehensive, free Palliative Care services for every person affected by cancer in our country.

By forming a human support chain across Cyprus, having 'Christodoula's Suitcase' as a symbol, the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society, with the help of volunteers and companies, initiated a journey around the island, sending powerful messages of hope, support, unity and respect for patients and their families experiencing cancer.

On 8 April, 2025, RSM Cyprus joined this symbolic journey in Limassol, escorting "Christodoula's Suitcase" from the beginning of Molos to the Old Port. The renowned, self-taught sculptor, Filippos Yiapanis, who accompanied our walk, handed the suitcase to our Managing Partner, CEO, George Themistocleous. Upon completion of our walk, the suitcase was handed over to Marino Vasiliou, Senior Lieutenant, Assistant Police Director Cyprus Police, continuing its meaningful, symbolic journey across the island.

Nicoleta Athanasiadou, Head of Communication & PR, Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society, comments, "'Christodoula's Suitcase' is a deeply moving and powerful symbol of hope and human solidarity. Through this journey, we convey messages of support and unity to every person affected by cancer and their families. We sincerely thank RSM Cyprus for its support and participation in this meaningful route, which brings us all together around a common goal: to alleviate human suffering and strengthen hope."

Likewise,Managing Partner, CEO George Themistocleous, RSM Cyprus, states, "Our participation in this initiative was a great honour for all of us. The story of Christodoula, highlighted by this symbolic journey, showcases the strength and courage we can have by supporting each other and standing together. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility program, RSM Cyprus will continue to support meaningful initiatives and actions that promote our community's health, well-being and quality of life."
