Consulate of Republic of Cyprus in Mumbai , Maharashtra hosts ‘India-Cyprus 360’ event

Viraj Kulkarni, Honorary Consul of Republic of Cyprus in Mumbai , Maharashtra recently hosted an event entitled 'India-Cyprus 360' as part of a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

A related LinkedIn post by the Consulate noted that the initiatives align with the strategic steps taken by. Evagoras Vryonides, the HC of the Republic of Cyprus in India and His Excellency Manish, High Commissioner of India in the Republic of Cyprus.

Attendees at the 23 April event included professionals from the sectors of banking, capital markets, stock exchanges, medical, legal, trade, consulting, travel, hospitality, and industry bodies.

Key highlights included addresses from three prominent speakers, namely High Commissioner Manish, Trade Assistant Commercial Counsellor, Republic of Cyprus in India Rajat Bisht and Honorary Consul Kulkarni.

More specifically, Kulkarni set the tone for the event and shared vital statistics about Cyprus, discussed trade relationship, and initiatives taken by the consulate and highlighted increasing inquiries and travel between the two nations and notable meetings, including with the Honourable Minister of Protocol, Government of Maharashtra, to enhance India-Cyprus collaboration. He also introduced forthcoming projects aimed at boosting bilateral ties with special reference to NSE IX, BCCI, ICG, IMC initiatives.

Bisht provided insights into initiatives by Invest Cyprus, the embassy, emphasising Cyprus as a financial gateway and discussed attractive tax rates and its position among the top 10 investors in India. His address also covered sectors such as travel, hospitality, including the allure of Blue Flag beaches, communications and technology, and the benefits of Special Economic Zones—especially in mining, energy, and infrastructure development. Bisht also mentioned Cyprus’s rich cultural heritage and opportunities.

On his part, High Commissioner Manish shared initiatives undertaken by the Indian High Commission in Cyprus since May 2014 to foster bilateral relationships, emphasised ongoing dialogue and collaboration and the growing presence of Indians in Cyprus with the island being a gateway to MENA, Europe and North Africa

As the LinkedIn post underlined, the invitees expressed significant interest in exploring business opportunities, reflecting a positive momentum toward deeper economic ties while queries related to Schengen Status, Visas, Education segment, medical industry, Fund managers Conclave participation, Cross border investments, flight connectivity.
