Ports Authority welcomes decision to undertake the development project of Larnaca Port and Marina

The Cyprus Ports Authority has welcomed the decision to proceed with the development of the Larnaca Port and Marina, as announced by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works following a meeting chaired by the President of the Republic.

The Authority described the decision as a significant step toward relaunching a project of strategic importance for the city and district of Larnaca, as well as for Cyprus’ broader economic and development trajectory.

According to the Authority, the project aims to create a modern, functional and sustainable coastal and maritime hub that will substantially upgrade Larnaca and boost economic activity in the wider region.

The development will include the upgrade of both the commercial and passenger port, the construction of a marina, and the utilisation of surrounding land. The plan places strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and serving both residents and visitors, with the goal of establishing a unified, high-standard development hub for the city.

The Authority added that drawing on its expertise and long-standing experience, it is now moving ahead with the preparation of a roadmap and techno-economic planning for the phased implementation of the project. This process will be carried out in close cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works and all relevant stakeholders in Larnaca.

The Authority noted that the project is intended to serve as a landmark development, while reaffirming its commitment to transparency and effective execution.
