Baker Tilly South East Europe marked its 30th anniversary with a distinguished event attended by senior figures from business, government and the wider professional community, reflecting the organisation’s presence across the region and its continued expansion over the past three decades.
The event took place on Wednesday, 13 May, at The Landmark Nicosia, Autograph Collection bringing together more than 250 attendees, including senior executives from the business community, representatives from the public sector, institutional stakeholders, clients, and partners of the firm.
Marios A. Klitou, CEO of Baker Tilly South East Europe, reflected on the organisation’s journey and development since its establishment 30 years ago, highlighting its expanding role across Baker Tilly South East Europe. Klitou referred to the firm’s long-standing presence in the region and its extensive expertise across audit, tax, advisory, and business services. Particular emphasis was placed on the organisation’s commitment to consistency, high professional standards, and long-term client relationships. Mr. Klitou also expressed his sincere appreciation to the firm’s partners, clients, and people for their trust, contribution, and continued commitment throughout the years, recognising their important role in the organisation’s ongoing growth and success.
The event also addressed the organisation’s future direction and international outlook, including the opportunities arising from merger with MHA, member firm of Baker Tilly International in UK, Ireland and UAE, which is one of the United Kingdom’s leading professional services groups providing audit, tax, consulting and advisory services. Rakesh Shaunak, Chairman at MHA mentioned that the merger strengthens Baker Tilly South East Europe’s international reach and provides broader access to global networks, sector knowledge and cross-border capabilities. Reference was also made to Baker Tilly South East Europe’s role within the wider relationship, with the organisation bringing more than 3 decades of experience in South East Europe.
The keynote address was delivered by Emeritus Professor Joe Nellis, CBE, Economic Adviser at MHA, who spoke on the topic “Uncertain Times, Critical Decisions: The Global and European Economic Outlook”. During his address, Professor Nellis highlighted that the ongoing crisis in the Middle East has intensified global uncertainty through volatile energy markets and inflationary pressures, exposing Europe’s continued vulnerability to imported energy shocks. Looking ahead to 2026, he noted that Europe faces the challenge of managing multiple pressures simultaneously, including geopolitical instability, rising energy costs, demographic changes, shifting trade dynamics, and the need to remain competitive within an increasingly fragmented global economy.
The evening concluded with a reception and cocktail gathering celebrating 30 years of continued success, offering guests the opportunity to network and continue discussions in a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.
