“Advertising at a Turning Point”: The first SDEK Conference comes to Cyprus

For years, Cyprus’ communications industry has been operating in an environment of constant change. New regulations, new technologies and new demands from clients and the public. Until now, discussions surrounding these developments have taken place in a fragmented manner. This changes this September. For the first time in Cyprus, the Cyprus Advertising and Communications Association (SDEK) is organising a Conference dedicated exclusively to the future of the industry: “Advertising at a Turning Point: Communication, Responsibility and Results”, on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, at 08:30, at the University of Nicosia’s Discovery Hall.

The significance of this initiative lies not only in the fact that it is the first of its kind. It also lies in the way it seeks to address the issue: not piece by piece, but as a whole. The regulatory framework, companies’ financial models, technological transformation and the restructuring of organisations themselves are being examined together for the first time, because, in practice, they do not evolve independently of one another. The aim is not to hold yet another discussion with no practical impact, but to establish specific principles and practices that will strengthen the credibility of the market, the quality of information and healthier business development. SDEK’s ambition is for Cyprus’ communications industry to participate in this dialogue as an equal interlocutor with the State—mature, responsible and with a clear point of view.

The day’s programme will revolve around questions that are already occupying the industry.

It will begin by examining what the new European regulatory framework means in practice for a company that creates campaigns. It will then move on to the most widely discussed issue of the year: how the value of an agency is being redefined at a time when artificial intelligence is opening up possibilities for speed and scale that once seemed impossible. It will focus on creativity, where artificial intelligence acts as an accelerator rather than a replacement for human thought. It will conclude with the relationship between the Media and advertising agencies—a relationship that, when it functions properly, creates value for the entire market, not just for the two parties involved.

Participation in the Conference proceedings will be by invitation only, with the aim of creating a setting in which every voice will carry real weight in the discussion.

Who It Is For

The Conference is aimed at business owners and senior executives of companies that shape Cyprus’ advertising and media ecosystem, industry professionals, representatives of the Media and advertisers, as well as executives from major companies and organisations operating in the Cypriot market. Representatives of the State, competent authorities and institutions, members of professional associations, as well as senior executives from advertising, communications, PR, Digital Communications and Media companies are also expected to attend.
