Damianou to discuss need to strengthen EU resilience in cyberspace at Informal Council

Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Dr. Nicodemos Damianou, will participate in the Informal Telecommunications Council of the European Union to take place in Warsaw on Wednesday, 4 March and which is anticipated to discuss the need to strengthen the EU's resilience in cyberspace, through cooperation and coordinated action among member states.

According to an official press release, the Council's agenda includes, among other issues, the development of common mechanisms to strengthen the countries' preparedness to address increased risks and threats in cyberspace, as well as investments in the cybersecurity sector.

The Ministers will also have a working lunch to discuss the strengthening of cooperation between civil and military cyber communities, aiming at the more effective protection of critical digital infrastructures and management of relevant cybersecurity crises. 

Meanwhile, on the sidelines of the Informal Council, the Deputy Minister will meet with the Commission's Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy Henna Virkkunen, with whom he will discuss the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU in  2026 on issues related to the Deputy Ministry.
