Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol has welcomed the first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)-powered vessel at the container terminal of Limassol Port.

With a total length of 205 metres and a capacity of 2,126 TEU, the CMA CGM SALAMANQUE LNG constitutes a significant step forward and a tangible example of good practice and alternative solutions towards a green energy transition in the shipping sector, a press release from the company notes.

The use of LNG as a marine fuel contributes to the reduction of gas emissions and air pollution, and a cleaner and greener future for maritime transport. This is the first ship with this technology to arrive at the Limassol container terminal, the announcement goes on to point out.

"For Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol, sustainable development is a strategic priority. Therefore, we are proud to support environmentally friendly initiatives and actions that contribute to the green growth of the shipping sector and shape the future of global trade," the press release concludes.
