Letymbiotis: Healthcare sector projects worth over €100m planned for 2023-2027

The projects planned for the healthcare sector for the four-year period between 2023 and 2027 exceed €100 million, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis has said.

In statements to journalists after a memorial service for the Paphos district EOKA fighters on 24 November and, asked about Friday’s meeting between the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, and the State Health Services Organisation (OKYPY), Letymbiotis said that OKYPY’s development plan was the sole topic of discussion.

The Spokesman referred to the obligation of the State, to be able to provide quality healthcare services to its citizens.

“In this context, for this very ambitious development plan”, he said, specific timetables have been set while President Christodoulides himself will be informed regularly on the progress of the implementation of these projects.

Especially for the Paphos district, he added, some projects with very specific timetables - to be completed by June 2026 - have been announced. He noted that these concern upgrading the Paphos General Hospital's accident and emergency department, while renovations will take place and there will be new Units to the Paphos General Hospital and the Polis Chrysochous Hospital.
