Philokypros Roussounides appointed CCCI Secretary General
George Ploutarchou 09:23 - 11 November 2024
Philokypros Roussounides, currently director general of the Cyprus Hotel Association, will be succeeding Marios Tsiakkis to become Secretary General of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), InBusinessNews has reported citing well-placed sources.
The Chamber’s Executive Committee convened on 8 November and decided to appoint Roussounides, bringing to a close a process that began months ago to fill the position, and which saw a number of candidates come forward and be interviewed.
Marios Tsiakkis held the General Secretary position for a number of years and was due to retire last February. However, following the departure of the Chamber’s long-standing president, Christodoulos Angastiniotis, just two months prior, it was decided that Tsiakkis would remain until the end of 2024 to ensure a smooth transition.
As InBusinessNews is informed, Roussounides – whose appointment is expected to be officially announced within the next few days – is going to assume his duties in the new year.
This means the Cyprus Hotel Association (CHA), which is a CCCI member, will also be looking for a new director general.
Who is Philokypros Roussounides?
Roussounides took over his duties at CHA in June 2020. He holds an MBA International Business from the UK’s London Southbank University.
He has worked at Cyprus Airways as general manager (Inflight Services) (2008-2014), at Dubai Eta Group as general manager (2014-2016), at Cobalt Air as senior vice president (2016-2019) and at Dhi Global Medical Group as CEO (2019-2020).
