Cyprus Marine Club celebrates new year with Gala Dinner (pics)

The Cyprus Marine Club has celebrated the arrival of the New Year with 160 guests at a Gala Dinner in Limassol.

The event took place at the Four Seasons Hotel on Friday, 12 January.

The President of CMC, Capt. Eberhard Koch and the Secretary-General, Julia Paczkowska, in their entertaining, joint opening speech, welcomed guests with New Year’s wishes and thanked Gala Sponsors Maritime Bureau of Shipping and UMAR |WSR as well as all 2024 annual sponsors for their generous support and help in keeping up the highest standards of the Club’s networking spectrum of opportunities.

Paczkowska briefly shared the programme of the Club for the next few months and updated guests about the development in the membership numbers in 2023.

“I think it was truly an amazing year and I think the numbers speak for themselves! We started 2023 with 140 and ended with 180. The support of the existing and new members is exceptional.”

Later in the evening, Gala guests were also delighted with a speech from Sunil Kapoor titled ‘Navigating Success Together – Ship Owners Ship Managers.’ Kapoor, who recently joined Oesterreichischer Lloyd Seereederei (Cyprus) Ltd. as a COO and Partner, delved into the nuances of achieving success as both a ship owner and manager. Emphasising their unique partnership, he highlighted the indispensable connection between these roles, playfully naming it the ‘MV Partnership.’ The discussion was not only insightful but also laced with humour and intriguing anecdotes, creating an engaging and enjoyable experience.

The CMC Gala was meticulously planned, well organised, and the ballroom of the hotel was beautifully decorated and guests could enjoy not only a splendid menu but also live music by Lia the Violin, the press release noted.
