Cypriot director K. Papavassiliou’s latest film to compete in Karlovy Vary festival

Cypriot director Kyros Papavassiliou will participate in this year's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival with a film entitled "Embryo Larva Butterfly".

The Karlovy Vary IFF will take place between 30 June and 8 July in the Czech Republic.

According to a press release by the Deputy Ministry of Culture, the participation of Papavassiliou’s new film in such an important festival is no surprise, "given his remarkable creative path until today”.

This is Papavassiliou's second feature film, which has been included in the 12 films of the Proxima competition programme of the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

The film is a Cyprus-Greece co-production and has been financed by the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus/Department of Modern Culture (Film Advisory Committee).

The story is about a couple’s relationship being tested “in a world where time changes arbitrarily, as individual and shared memories of the past, present and future are constantly changing”.
