Petrol-powered and hybrid saloons are enjoying the same market according to registrations, and are now significantly expanding their momentum in the car market.

On the contrary, despite the marginal increase that is still being recorded, electric cars are not exceeding 5% of the market.

The announcement of a limited number of grants for the purchase of electric cars by the Ministry of Transport amid increased demand seems to be contributing to this trend, with importers expressing strong concerns that there will in no case be 80,000 electric cars registered by 2030.

According to CySTAT data, registrations of saloon passenger cars fell by 3% annually in the period January-June 2025 and reached 20,004, compared to 20,623 in the corresponding period of 2024, while, on the other hand, in June alone they increased by 9.7% to 3,780 from 3,447 in June last year.
