Αgriculture Minister in the Netherlands to enhance bilateral cooperation

Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Dr. Maria Panayiotou is in the Netherlands on for an official visit with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the agri-food sector, through the exchange of know-how and the exploitation of innovative applications in agriculture.

The Minister is being accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Andreas Gregoriou, the Director of the Department of Agriculture, Dr. Makis Antoniades as well as the Deputy Director of the Agricultural Research Institute, Dr. Marios Kyriakou.

The Ministry announced that the 27 June visit is part of the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, following the symbolic visit of the Dutch Royal Couple to Cyprus, which highlighted the prospects for deepening relations in the rural development sector.

The Minister will meet with her counterpart Femke Marije Wiersma. The program also includes visits to model crops, research structures, and livestock units that apply modern technologies, such as smart irrigation systems and circular management solutions, with the aim of strengthening technical cooperation and the transition to more sustainable agricultural models.
