Politeia Centre for Socio-Political Thinking organised an event that drew a robust turnout and high level of engagement, spotlighting Artificial Intelligence’s pivotal role in national security and strategic planning.
The event took place at Artos House in Nicosia, drawing a diverse audience, that included prominent diplomatic missions and embassy representatives- highlighting the topic’s international significance.
Keynote speaker, Dr. Marina Theodotou, Executive Director of the Center for Frontier AI Security and former Executive Director of the Defense Innovation Board at the Pentagon, explored rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and their profound implications for global security.
The discussion unfolded in a fireside chat format, moderated by Politeia President Anna Koukkides-Procopiou, with opening remarks from Founder and Honorary President of Politeia, Dr. Nicos Peristianis.
Rather than an open-floor Q&A, the session featured targeted questions that illuminated critical applications of AI in security, governance and strategic decision-making, fostering insightful and substantive dialogue.
As Dr. Theodotou emphasised, “Artificial intelligence is not merely a technological tool, but a catalyst reshaping the very nature of power and security at a global level, creating a new reality in which we will all live in.”
The event wrapped up with a networking reception, offering participants the opportunity to further exchange views and build connections.
Politeia is a non-profit organisation that operates as a centre for socio-political thinking and aims to promote active citizenship.
