Cyprus-India to sign Joint Declaration of Partnership

The Republic of Cyprus and India are anticipated to sign a Joint Declaration of Partnership, in the context of the visit of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the island.

According to a government source, the Joint Declaration, will define the overall strategic relationship between the Republic of Cyprus and India, is a “historic and substantial development.”

It is further characterised as a “decisive step” towards the further deepening of bilateral relations, with the two countries recognising the strategic value attributed to each other while creating the institutional foundation for systematic cooperation, as the same source said.

This development, it is added, strengthens the role of the Republic of Cyprus as a reliable partner in the Eastern Mediterranean and highlights the possibilities for trilateral and multilateral cooperation in areas such as energy, defence, investments, digital technologies and the green transition.

With the Joint Declaration, Cyprus and India declare their intention to move forward together in the new era of geopolitical and geoeconomic realignments, with an emphasis on peace, stability and sustainable development, it is noted.
