Evgenios Evgeniou: "Cyprus is emerging as the eastern gateway for investors seeking access to the European market"

"Situated at the eastern frontier of the European Union, Cyprus is emerging as the eastern gateway for investors seeking access to the European market, and as a hub for business and investments, bridging Europe with the Middle East and Asia," Invest Cyprus Chairman Evgenios Evgeniou has said.

Evgeniou was speaking at a high-level business forum held in Limassol on 15 June, during which the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, described their common vision for broader bilateral relations.

The business forum, organised by the Presidency of the Republic, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI) and Invest Cyprus, took place in the presence of the elite of our island's business community and a large delegation of businessmen from India.

During his address at the event, Evegeniou, among other things, also noted that Cyprus' role as a gateway was being "embraced by both Indian businesses expanding into Europe and by Western investors investing in India."

The Invest Cyprus Chairman then went on to moderate a roundtable discussion entitled 'Contribution by business leaders on their business module and plans for collaboration between Cyprus and India.'

Evgeniou's full speech can be read below:

Your Excellencies, President Christodoulides and Prime Minister Modi,
Distinguished Guests, Esteemed Colleagues,

It is my great honour to welcome you all and to moderate today’s business and investment roundtable.

Prime Minister Modi, we are deeply honoured by your presence in Cyprus.

Your visit is a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship and the ever-deepening partnership between our two countries.

As the national investment authority, Invest Cyprus is entrusted with the mandate to promote Cyprus as a business hub and an investment destination and to serve as the primary point of contact for foreign investors on the island.

Situated at the eastern frontier of the European Union, Cyprus is emerging as the eastern gateway for investors seeking access to the European market, and as a hub for business and investments, bridging Europe with the Middle East and Asia.

A role embraced by both Indian businesses expanding into Europe and by Western investors investing in India.

I am confident that today’s roundtable, held in the esteemed presence of Your Excellencies, will serve to further strengthen the economic and investment ties between Cyprus and India, leading to investment led, job creating growth, for the benefit of our two countries.
