At the 36th Annual General Meeting of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC), Thomas Kazakos, Secretary General and CEO of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and former director General of the CSC, was presented with an honorary award in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication to the maritime industry.
In his heartfelt remarks, Kazakos addressed the audience, sharing the surreal feeling of attending the event as a guest after 33 years of service.
As a professional lobbyist, Kazakos expressed how deeply honoured he was to receive such recognition from his industry peers, and added with warmth and humour that this special honour will accompany him on many cold London nights.

Kazakos gave special thanks to CSC President Themis Papadopoulos, the Chamber members, the 200+ member companies, Alex Josephides, and others for their trust, collaboration, and enduring support throughout his career. He spoke about the unique opportunities and valuable education the Chamber provided him—opportunities that, he emphasised, made it possible for him to be today in the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

His only wish, he said, is to prove himself worthy of the trust and support placed in him and to fulfill the responsibility that comes with it. He pledged to continue serving the shipping industry with the same passion and commitment that guided him throughout his career. Finally, he dedicated the award to his wife Evangelia and their children, thanking them for standing by his side every step of the way.
