Marina Hadjimanolis holds contacts in Helsinki to strengthen maritime cooperation

Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanolis has held a series of important contacts in Helsinki which aimed to further strengthen maritime cooperation between Cyprus and Finland.

The Deputy Minister was part of the delegation that accompanied the President of Cyprus last week during his working visit to Finland.

The focus of her visit was the business maritime forum organised in Helsinki, with the participation of representatives of the maritime cluster from Cyprus and Finland.

On the sidelines of the forum, she held a meeting with Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Finland, Minna Kivimäki, following the meeting with the Minister of Transport and Communications of Finland, Lulu Ranne, last March in Brussels.

The Deputy Minister of Shipping had accompanied President Nikos Christodoulides in his official contacts with the political leadership of Finland and in his statements, the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, had referred to the strategic role played by Cypriot shipping, as well as to the importance of further strengthening cooperation between Cyprus and Finland, underlining that the sea constitutes a strong connecting link between the two countries.

Hadjimanolis also visited the state-owned icebreaker Polaris, owned by ARCTIA Shipping, where she was informed about the key role that icebreakers play in ensuring uninterrupted navigation in Finland during the winter months.

She also visited the headquarters of Wärtsilä, one of the leading companies in the field of innovative technologies for the shipping and energy markets.
