Limassol Municipality and City Friends Club join forces for Earth Hour 2025

The Municipality of Limassol and City Friends Club are coming together to support Earth Hour 2025, a global movement that raises awareness about climate change and environmental protection.

Earth Hour is a worldwide initiative of The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) that began with the goal to save energy. On the last Saturday of March, all citizens of the planet are expected to turn off the lights of their homes for one hour, so that in this way they will send a message of participation in the protection of the environment.

On March 22, individuals, businesses, and organisations in Limassol are encouraged to switch off their non-essential electric lights for one hour, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, as a symbolic act of commitment to the planet. Limassol Municipality will turn off the building lighting at the Town Hall, while City Friends Club will do the same at its office.

“Limassol Municipality supports Earth Hour 2025 as part of our commitment to sustainability and raising awareness about the importance of environmental responsibility. We encourage all residents, businesses, and organisations in Limassol to join us in this symbolic gesture, demonstrating our shared commitment to protecting the planet for future generations,” said Yiannis Armeftis, Mayor of Limassol.

City Friends Club, known for its active role in sustainable waste collection and environmental education, emphasises that small actions can lead to a significant impact. “We are proud to collaborate with Limassol Municipality on this initiative. Earth Hour is not just about turning off the lights—it’s a reminder that small actions can lead to big changes for our planet,” said Anna Gubareva, founder and CEO City Friends Club.
