The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, begins a two-day official visit to the Republic of Cyprus on Monday, 8 Sepetmber.
According to a statement published at the CoE website, during the visit, Berset will meet the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, at 10.45am.
After the meeting, the President of the Republic and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe will visit Nicosia City Hall, where they will tour the ceasefire line.
Berset will also meet the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, as well as the country’s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
It is added that discussions are expected to focus on cooperation between Cyprus and the Council of Europe, the country’s forthcoming Presidency of the European Union and the unfolding crisis in the Middle East.
