Labour Minister says goal for full employment conditions in first two years of governance is accomplished

Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Yiannis Panayiotou has welcomed the achievement of the government's goal of creating full employment conditions within the first two years of governance.

He noted that this constitutes a significant labour achievement with a strong positive impact on the economy and society.

In a written statement, the Minister welcomed the announcement by CySTAT on the data from the Labour Force Survey, saying that the data confirm the estimate for a reduction in unemployment in 2024 to less than 5%, which means that full employment conditions have now been established with unemployment reduced to 4.9%, which is the lowest rate recorded since 2008.

We continue, he added, the methodical implementation of the Governance Programme for the continuation of the improvement in the labour market and for the continuation of the positive results of the first two years, through the improvement of the mechanisms for connecting human resources with jobs, the increase in participation in vocational training programmes and the full utilisation of employment support plans.
