President participates in EU leaders video conference ahead of 6 March EUCO

President Nikos Christodoulides has participated in a video conference of the heads of EU member states, convened by President of the European Council Antonio Costa during which the French President informed the European leaders about his recent meeting with his US counterpart.

According to a written statement by the Director of the Press Office of the President, Victoras Papadopoulos, the President of the Republic participated in the 26 February video conference of the heads of EU member states, convened by the President of the European Council in view of the extraordinary European Council to be held on 6 March in Brussels.

“The video conference was held in the context of preparation for the extraordinary summit next week, in which developments in Ukraine, as well as issues of EU defence and security will be discussed,” Papadopoulos said. In this context, he notes, European leaders were briefed by French President Emmanuel Macron on his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump.
