Τourist arrivals up 6.9% in July, 10.4% in first seven months of the year

Tourist arrivals increased by 6.9% in July 2025 and by 10.4% in the first seven months of this year on an annual basis, according to Cystat.

In numbers, tourist arrivals reached 589,116 in July 2025 compared to 551,229 in July 2024.

Similarly, for the period January-July 2025, tourist arrivals reached 2,432,129 compared to 2,203,704 in the same period of 2024, marking an increase of 10.4%.

According to CyStat, arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for July 2025, accounting for 32.2% (189,730) of total arrivals. This was followed by arrivals from Israel with 13.0% (76,557), arrivals from Poland with 7.4% (43,713), arrivals from Germany with 4.0% (23,694), arrivals from Sweden with 3.5% (20,455) and arrivals from Romania with 2.9% (17,000).

The purpose of travel in July 2025 was holidays for 85.5% of visitors, visiting friends or relatives for 11.6% and business for 2.8%. Similarly, in July 2024, 88.7% people visited Cyprus for a vacation, 8.6% to visit friends or relatives, and 2.7% for business purposes.

In addition, CyStat reports that trips abroad by residents of Cyprus in July 2025 amounted to 186,987 compared to 171,382 in July 2024, marking an increase of 9.1%.

The main countries from which Cyprus residents returned in July 2025 were Greece with 36.8% (68,858), the United Kingdom with 9.4% (17,518), and Italy with 5.9% (11,117).

The purpose of travel for Cyprus residents in July 2025 was mainly vacation, accounting for 75.1%, while business reasons accounted for 14.8%, studies 9.1%, and other reasons 1.0%.
