Cyprus-Greece officials discuss coordination in tourism cooperation

Tourism Deputy Minister Kostas Koumis and Greece' Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni have discussed the strengthening and coordination of bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector.

Koumis visited Athens on 24 February and during the meeting with Kefalogianni it was decided to establish a bilateral cooperation committee, with the aim of exchanging know-how on a number of issues, such as sustainable tourism development, the implementation of good practices, the development of artificial intelligence in the tourism sector etc.

A press release by the Cyprus Deputy Ministry issued on 26 February says that the two sides explored a possible cooperation for the creation of joint travel packages from destinations such as China and the US.

During the meeting Koumis assured Kefalogianni of Cyprus' support for Greece’s dual candidacy to the World Tourism Organization.

Koumis also held meetings with the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises, executives of the Institute of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises and executives of Marketing Greece.

They discussed Marketing Greece's role and its development so far, issues related to research, studies and education of the tourism industry and possible ways of cooperation between the Cyprus Deputy Ministry and Institute of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises.
