ECoE’s Dr Silas Michaelides listed among ScholarGPS’s world's leading scientists

Dr Silas Michaelides, Chief Operating Manager of the Cyprus University of Technology’s Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence (ECoE) has been recognised as one of the top scientists worldwide (top 0.5% in the Artificial Neural Networks Specialty) by the prestigious ScholarGPS platform.

As noted, according to the data of the ScholarGPS platform, Dr Michaelides' research activity is focused on the fields of Engineering and Computer Science, with a higher evaluation in the field of Artificial Neural Networks.

In addition, his research interests include Earth observation, meteorology, meteorological radars, geospatial data analysis, as well as the development of technologies to address environmental and climate challenges.

“Through the combined use of satellite data, remote sensing and innovative analysis methods, it contributes to monitoring natural phenomena and supporting sustainable development.

The ScholarGPS platform (www.scholarGPS) has evaluated more than 30 million scientists from more than 55,000 institutions in over 200 countries,” it added.

It is noted that the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence has been operating in Limassol since 2020 and is a decisive factor in the positioning of Cyprus in the space arena.

"At the same time, it contributes to the emergence of Cyprus as a regional hub of technology and innovation by combining infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment, cutting-edge research, targeted educational services and entrepreneurship actions," the announcement concludes.
