Cyprus' Law Commissioner Louiza Christodoulidou-Zannetou in Geneva for assessment report

Law Commissioner Louiza Christodoulidou-Zannetou is heading a delegation representing the Republic of Cyprus in the evaluation session of the 7th Periodic Report for Cyprus, before the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Geneva.

The Committee is composed of 18 independent experts and monitors member states' compliance with the rights provided for in the Covenant, such as the right to education, health, work and social protection.

A press release issued by the Commissioner's office said that the Cypriot delegation presented important developments that have taken place in recent years in areas such as education, health, social insurance and culture.

The Committee recognised the positive steps forward for the protection, promotion and implementation of economic, social and cultural rights, raised questions and requested clarifications on specific issues related to the implementation of the International Covenant, in order to ensure full compliance, the press release noted.
